Michigan Legislature Considers Upcoming Bill To Shape Recycling Market Monopoly! - Us Against Media

More Regulation Means More Opportunity For Monopoly and More Money From Taxpayers!

This bill is intended to create regulation to keep competition from being able to enter the competitive space.

WE MUST CALL OUR REPS AND DEMAND A BIG NO! On This Bill!

Dive Brief:

  • For the past few weeks, the Michigan House of Representatives has deliberated HB 5815, a bipartisan bill which would influence how the state spends $15 million of taxpayer money each year on recycling marketing and infrastructure development. (Trying to lockout the little guy)
  • This budget kicked in during the 2018-2019 fiscal year as part of the so-called Renew Michigan Fund, which allocates $69 million annually for a range of waste-related activities like contaminated site remediation and landfill oversight.
  • The Michigan Recycling Coalition (Has advocated for this bill and is made up of mostly business owners who have special interest in this bill)
