Whitmer’s Priorities: Tariffs and Education Cuts Over Accountability
Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Wednesday that she will be traveling to Washington, D.C., to lobby against proposed cuts to the U.S. Department of Education and new tariffs against Canada. While she claims her trip is about protecting Michigan jobs and schools, it’s yet another example of her misplaced priorities—choosing to grandstand on federal policies rather than addressing the corruption and failures happening right in her own backyard.
Michigan’s Economic Challenges and the Tariff Debate
As a new round of Trump administration tariffs is set to go into effect next month, Whitmer argues that they will harm Michigan workers and businesses. “Indiscriminate tariffs on our allies—they’re going to put Michiganders out of work,” she claimed. However, this rhetoric ignores the long-term economic strategy of protecting American industries and ensuring fair trade deals that put American workers first instead of bowing to globalist interests.
Business leaders have expressed concern over tariffs, yet many also recognize that Trump’s economic policies have strengthened manufacturing and pushed back against unfair trade practices. Despite Whitmer’s claims that the tariffs will be disastrous, past measures like these have resulted in job growth and stronger American industry when properly implemented.

Fighting to Keep DEI Indoctrination in Schools
In addition to lobbying against tariffs, Whitmer is fighting against Trump’s proposed cuts to the U.S. Department of Education, which aim to eliminate wasteful spending on radical DEI initiatives. Whitmer and Michigan’s far-left education board refuse to accept the reality that DEI policies are divisive and fail to improve student outcomes. Instead of focusing on academic excellence, discipline, and real solutions to failing schools, they continue to push their woke agenda while Michigan students fall further behind in math, reading, and science.

FBI Corruption in Michigan: Still No Accountability
While Whitmer is eager to fly to D.C. to lobby for her policies, she remains silent on one of the biggest scandals in Michigan’s recent history—the FBI’s role in the fake kidnapping plot against her. Federal agents infiltrated and manipulated a small group of individuals, entrapping them into a plot they themselves helped create. This politically motivated sting operation was conveniently timed to benefit Whitmer and fuel anti-Trump narratives before the 2020 election.
Despite multiple reports and court findings exposing the FBI’s misconduct, no one in the Bureau has been held accountable. If Whitmer truly cared about justice and transparency, she would be demanding answers instead of brushing the scandal aside. But instead, she chooses to champion DEI, lobby against American economic policies, and ignore government corruption that directly affected her own state. Michigan Legislators have done nothing to investigate this either.

The Real Crisis in Michigan
While Whitmer plays politics in D.C., Michigan is facing real problems:
Declining Education Standards: Michigan schools rank among the worst in the nation, yet Whitmer prioritizes DEI over real educational reform.
Economic Uncertainty: Instead of working with businesses to ensure long-term economic stability, Whitmer pushes globalist trade policies that undermine American workers.
FBI Overreach: The federal government entrapped citizens in a manufactured domestic terrorism case, and Whitmer refuses to demand accountability.
Conclusion: Prioritizing Politics Over People
Whitmer’s upcoming trip to Washington is nothing more than political theater. Instead of standing up for Michigan’s families, businesses, and schools, she is prioritizing lobbying for failed policies and ignoring real corruption. The people of Michigan deserve a governor who stands for them, not one who spends her time fighting against economic policies that benefit America while ignoring the federal overreach happening in her own state.
